What is the G7 Summit?

The G7 Summit is an annual international meeting attended by the leaders of the seven countries of France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Canada, together with the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission. At the summit, the leaders of the G7 member countries the G7 leaders engage in candid exchanges of views on various global issues, including the global economy and the international situation. This year, Japan assumes the G7 Presidency, with the Summit due to be held in Hiroshima from May 19 to 21, 2023.

About the G7 Agriculture Ministers’ Meeting in Miyazaki

As one of the ministerial meetings of the G7 Hiroshima Summit, agriculture ministers from G7 member countries and representatives of international organizations are expected to participate in the meeting to discuss specific measures to resolve common issues surrounding global agriculture, such as ensuring food security and agricultural sustainability. It has been 23 years since a G7 Ministers’ Meeting was held in Miyazaki, the previous occasion being the G8 Kyushu-Okinawa Summit in July 2000.
